Why do you specialize in grass racing only?

We feel that grass racing is the most consistent surface to handicap horses.

Why not provide information on horses running on other surfaces, such as dirt?

We do not for the exact opposite reason we provide information for turf races. The inconsistency of the surfaces makes it much more difficult to win at the races. All three major tracks have different surfaces.

• Santa Anita has a traditional “dirt” surface which consists of mostly sand.
• Hollywood Park uses Cushion Track which is an artificial surface made of silica sand , various fibers and granulated rubber.
• Del Mar also uses a synthetic surface known as Polytrack which is made of silica sand, fibers and rubber but is maintained differently because of the climate and close proximity to the ocean.

All three dirt or synthetic surfaces listed above produce different track biases that can be attributed to maintenance or weather changes.

What racetracks do you cover in Southern California?

We cover Santa Anita Park, Betfair Hollywood Park and Del Mar.  Fairplex Park or Los Alamitos do not have turf courses.

Manny Marquez  (Former Santa Anita Thoroughbreds Center Supervisor) and longtime Southern California racing fan and bettor. Manny is responsible for the content and handicapping information .
